Position information

We are looking for competent and enthusiastic French teachers to join our team. Successful candidates will be passionate about teaching and learning and will inspire their students. They are familiar with current research on the best teaching practices and will be able to work in teams, share resources and ideas, and communicate clearly with students and their parents. They will promote the values ​​of the British School of Monaco and focus on each student's learning journey, having strategies to determine their entry level and assess what each student needs to do to show progression in their learning. They will have a perfect knowledge of basic computer tools, a skill which will allow them to easily assimilate the softwares that are used to support the organization within the establishment.

The British School of Monaco Curriculum

The British School of Monaco curriculum is responsive to individual needs, broad and balanced. It offers a learning experience that develops the whole child and clearly progresses according to subject knowledge gained and skills developed. It is filled with rich, purposeful and authentic learning experiences. 

The British School of Monaco focuses on investigating concepts in greater depth and the development of mastery. Explicit teaching and exploration of reasoning and problem solving, along with cross-curricular learning, is a critical differentiator in this curriculum.

The importance of language and culture is at the heart of learning at the British School of Monaco. There is a strong focus on developing our students’ love for and exposure to literature, and the notion of how to articulate thoughts and ideas with appropriate and challenging vocabulary is of central importance in all subjects.

In addition to the National Curriculum for England subjects, the British School of Monaco offers a significant French programme for both first language French speakers and second language French speakers.

The Role*

First role: Teacher of French to First Language Learners (0.5FTE)

Second role: Teacher of French to Second Language Learners (0.5FTE)

*The British School of Monaco will consider applicants who feel qualified and able to undertake both elements of the role as a full-time commitment. Or, alternatively, the school may make two part-time appointments from applicants who can meet the expectations of either one of the roles as identified above. Please state clearly in your application whether you wish to be considered for both roles or one element only.

We are searching for a reliable and enthusiastic French teacher(s) to join our team. The successful applicant(s) will be passionate about teaching and learning and be able to inspire their students. They will know the current research on best pedagogical practices and be able to work in a team, share resources and ideas, and be able to communicate clearly with students and their parents. They will promote the values of the British School of Monaco and focus on each student’s learning pathway, having strategies to determine their entry level and assess what each student needs to do in order to display growth in their learning. They will be competent users of technology to support their organisational and pedagogical practices. 

To be successful as a French teacher, you should demonstrate patience, passion, and excellent analytical skills. Outstanding candidates are able to identify students’ strengths and weaknesses and take an innovative approach to language teaching.

The responsibilities of a British School of Monaco French teacher include, but are not limited to: 

  • Preparing and executing well-planned, academically rich and innovative French lessons; 
  • Developing a stimulating learning environment by using a variety of styles and approaches to cater for individual learning needs; 
  • Employing a variety of effective teaching strategies to effectively implement the French curriculum; 
  • Ensuring that classrooms are places where technology is seamlessly, yet actively, employed to assist in effective French learning; 
  • Reporting on academic achievement to parents and make appropriate levels of contact with parents as necessary; 
  • Developing learning relationships with students that assist in developing the confidence and learning of British School of Monaco students;
  • Giving appropriate time to the planning of lessons and collaboration with other teachers as part of teaching teams;
  • Actively contributing to a culture of teaching and learning where teachers learn with, and from, each other and actively inquire into effective pedagogical practice;
  • Engaging in active and continuous professional learning that is relevant to their area/ subject discipline as well as concerns and debates in the education sphere more generally;
  • Engaging with students in a variety of activities outside the classroom, including contributing to the British School of Monaco enrichment programme.

Education
Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
Qualified Teacher Status preferred

Masters degree in related area preferred.

Experience
Successful prior French language teaching experience in an international school
